Dear colleagues!
The present activity is designed for 2.º de la
ESO. It consists of a picture through which they have to answer some questions
and practice the oral expression skill The activity will take two days. Here you
are the image proposed for this activity:
Day 1: oral
practicing and imagination
Some of the questions I think they can answer:
What do you see in
this picture? (brief
description of the elements)
Can you describe
people faces and expressions?
What does it inspire
you?/What feelings do you have about it?
Do you think war is necessary? Why? Why not?
By doing this activity, they can learn/revise
some vocabulary and also express feelings about other people and themselves.
They can also practice descriptions and possibility using modal verbs.
After exchanging their opinions and feelings
all together, they would have to answer the following and last question:
Would you like to draw
a picture treating the same subject? I will use this last one question to get them
practicing their creativity. They would have enough time to finish it, at home
if necessary.
Day 2: oral
practicing through an art gallery
The following day our classroom will become an
art gallery. There will be an exhibition with all their designs all along the
walls. We will do our visit to the museum and each student has to present their
masterpiece by giving the following information:
Name of the artwork
Brief description (elements in the picture, colours
used, etc.)
Why this drawing? What
would you like to tell us? What is the main message?
With this activity they will mainly practice
the oral expression skill, as well as their imagination, their creativity and
their feelings, these last ones expressed in their artworks.
Very good activity, very imaginative. It can really be carried out at any level depending on the subject you choose, I think perhaps this one would be more appropriate for a higher level group and choose a lighter subject for 2º ESO, they may not be able to express feelings about something as complex as war. Good work!
ResponderEliminarThank you very much for your comments, Luz. I'll take into account your remarks about the level, as it's true that the war subject can be difficult for 2º ESO students. I remember I did something similar for 4º ESO in France, but it was about Muralism and pictures were quite easier.
ResponderEliminarI appreciate your time in reading our blog entries and making remarks that can be very useful for us in a near future.
